As an LNA in the emergency department (ED), your role is crucial in providing support to nursing staff and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Key responsibilities include:

Patient Care:
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Help patients with mobility, including transferring from stretchers to beds.
- Provide basic bedside care and comfort measures, such as positioning and hydration.

Vital Signs Monitoring:
- Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Assist in the monitoring of patients during their stay in the ED.

Assisting with Procedures:
- Support nurses during emergency procedures, such as IV placement, wound care, or intubation.
- Prepare and clean the area for procedures, ensuring a sterile environment.

Patient Observation:
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and report significant findings to the nursing staff.
- Ensure patient safety by observing for any potential hazards or risks.

Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist in charting patient information and changes in condition.

Communication:
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team, providing updates and answering questions as appropriate.
- Participate in handoff reports to ensure continuity of care.

Environmental Maintenance:
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and common areas.
- Assist in restocking supplies and equipment as needed.

Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to assist in emergency situations, including CPR and other life-saving measures.
- Follow established protocols for emergencies and critical situations.

Support for Families:
- Provide emotional support and information to patients’ families during stressful situations.
- Help facilitate communication between families and the healthcare team.
